Speaking Testimonials

"Ann's straight up, honest talk about her fight to overcome depression was a moving and personal voyage that our members related to in a most positive way. Because it was such a personal message many hearts went out to her, and I hope that her sharing allowed some people to see some ray of hope for those they love that may be in a similar situation. May her message be well received and beneficial to those who hunger for a way through the darkness."

Geoffrey Wheeler, Program Chair, Boulder, CO Rotary Club

"Ann is a excellent speaker who offers her time and personal story of dealing with bipolar depression. She has an interesting voice, speaks fluently and related beautifully to the various parents who made statements of their thoughts and feelings. Her husband, Gary, is not only a wonderful husband, but also an asset to her as she speaks to others."

Vivian Sheldon Epstein, Heartbeat Coordinator, Denver, CO

"I was happy that I  'happened upon" the Seattle program "Conversations" early Sunday morning. Ann provided interesting information, and it was inspiring when she talked about her own depression. She was not at all hurried during the discussion. The moderator seemed well prepared ad was familar with Ann's book. I have ordered two copies of Out Of Focus....Again." ~ CarolThomas, Burien, WA

Ann Kochenberger surprised us all during our NAMI Jeffco Education Night meeting on October 7.  Ann's presentation was far more educational than any of us anticipated.  The response from members has been overwhelmingly positive. Ann shared her personal journey through life which spans from her very happy, healthy childhood, a wonderful marriage, social commitments and child rearing into the depths of despair and depression from having bipolar illness. No subject was off limits and our community appreciated her sincerity, honesty, ability to maintain a sense of humor and openly discuss her journey into hopefulness and a healthy life. She opened the floor to questions following her presentation and the audience felt Ann's sincere concern and desire to help others in her compassionate and thoughtful answers.Thank you, Ann, for offering support and help to others when it is so desperately needed!

Ann's radio interview concerning depression was informative and clear, providing helpful suggestions for listeners to understand, cope, and find help when dealing with depression. One of the emphasis was on encouraging depressed people to talk about it to family, friends, and seek professional help. Ann's suggestions were clear - she encouraged people to seek help and find out of they could benefit from therapy and medication. She discussed pit falls and watching for signals that could cause this mind state to transpire. One of the main messages of the interview was to help people suffering from depression understand the importantance of acknowledging mental illness without shame and to seek help.
